Dirty Water

In the most sweltering, doggiest days of summer we discovered a drink to revive us – Sicilian dirty water – a muddle of sorbet and sparkling water, from Claire Thompson at 5o’clockapron.

Prep time: 5 minutes
Cooking time:
Makes: 1 glass

Ingredients
1 scoop lemon sorbet
1 glass sparkling water

1. All in a muddle

I hope you have your reading glasses on and your concentration locked in because this is about to get complicated… joke only! (Maria Christina False Eyelashes™)

Add one scoop of lemon sorbet to a glass (you can really use any kind of sorbet, it just will look like a different variety of dirty water. For instance, I used raspberry sorbet, so I guess that made it Sicilian murder water?).

Top with fizzy water.

Mix and muddle with a long spoon.

There is your Sicilian dirty water!

Dink and sink!

Food for Thought

Lizzy says: “I found this recipe on instagram and then spent a very long time trying to find other recipes on food blogs, unfortunately all that turned up was reports of polluted water on Sicily – so I’m glad that Kate and I got to make such a local recipe. We made this in the midst of this years third (?!) heat wave and it was super refreshing. I almost wish that I had blended this with a peg leg to make it extra foamy and added some ice cubes as well, but maybe then it would just be a sorbet smoothie (smorbet). 7/10”
