Gpa: How many sides is a balloon?
L: 1
K: 0
All: *Laugh*
Gpa: Two: inside and outside.
All: *Groan*
Why is this your Legaspy?
Gma: Because you asked for us to do something like that, didn’t you? But it was nice of you to come and we’ve enjoyed your company and you’ve helped us.
K: So basically because we told you to make it for us…
Gma: Yes. But, no you have been helpful, haven’t you? You peeled the apples and everything.
L: Its nice to learn how to do it as well. Because, I don’t think I’ve ever made an apple crumble.
K: And it’s learning by doing.
Gma: Yes. Well I thought it was the easiest one, easier than the other two [recipes you suggested].
Who taught you how to cook?
Gma: Well my mother really. We learnt at school as well.
L: Did you just do dessert at school, or did you do main courses as well?
Gma: No, we did main courses as well.
K: Would it just have been that you helped around the house and learnt because you were expected to help?
Gma: Yes, I think so. Or you enjoyed doing it anyway.
What is a dish you can’t cook but wish you could?
Gma: Ooh I don’t know.
Gpa: Well her victoria sponge she used to do very well, but suddenly that went awry because we changed the dish.
Gma: I’ve gone off of cooking because there’s only Grandpa and I and we buy the cakes now. Remind me of the question again?
L: If you could cook any dish in the world what would you cook?
Gma: Well can I say this: what we’ve just had?!
L & K: Yes, that’s a good answer!
Gma: Well, that’s the one that I’m cooking every week!
K: Its like you snuck up behind on the question.
Who is your biggest inspiration when cooking?
Gma: My husband.
K: (To Grandpa) You’re the inspiration.
L: Or the driving force.
Gpa: My mother helped you with the yorkshire puddings, do you remember that?
Gma: Yes. That’s going back a lot of years. Well, there you go, you can say my mother-in-law or Bill’s mother taught me how to cook.
K: That’s funny because our mum can’t make yorkshire puddings. Maybe it skips a generation.
What do you like to listen to while you cook?
Gma: If its news time or something like that, then I have the radio on. But I don’t have it on every day to listen to it, but if its time for the news or something of interest then I listen.
K: Do you often cook together?
Gma: Yes, at night you [Grandpa] does the vegetables and I do everything else.
K: So you have each other for company, you don’t need the radio?
Gma and Gpa: Yes, yes.
L: And do you usually cook after the six o’clock news?
Gma: Oh yes, we don’t eat until eight o’clock at night, which is all wrong, wrong! You see, when he used to play golf regularly he used to come in about two o’clock on a Sunday afternoon, and I said ‘well its ridiculous this! we’re going to eat later’ and we’ve just stayed with it, haven’t we?
L: Oh really! I didn’t know that was why!
K: No me either!
Gma: Well, this was it, not only was it a game of golf, you stopped and had a beer.
K: True, I remember when we used to be here on a Sunday, it would be like that.
What is the best dish you’ve ever eaten?
Gma: That I’ve cooked myself? Well I suppose where we go out on a Saturday night, isn’t it?
Gpa: What, the French Horn?
Gma: No, the Bottle and Glass. They won’t know where that one is will they?
L: We can tag it and tell everyone about it, but then it might get really busy.
K: So the fish and chips you would have? Is it like a comfort food?
Gma: I suppose it is yes.
L: But you don’t have mushy peas?
Gma: No I don’t have mushy peas and I don’t have.. what’s the other thing they have?
K: Oh, tartare sauce
Gma: Yes, so I just have the fish chips.
K: When we got fish and chips on Sunday I made mum and dad order an extra portion of mushy peas, because everyone is always like ‘maybe I’ll try a couple’ and then I can’t have the amount that I want.
All: * laugh *
K: Its quite frustrating.
